Eumetsat, the European Agency for weather observations, runs the ground station for the weather satellite Meteosat. A dish antenna measuring 12 meters in diameter located in Usingen, is the only visible part of the complex communication system operating the satellite and gathering weather-related data.
The DLR - Das deutsche Zentrum für Luft- und Raumfahrt (German Aerospace Centre) - developed the control system for the ground station.
AC-B supports the DLR for quality assurance, negotiations with suppliers, tests and system commissioning. These tasks also demand a 100% degree of accuracy from all concerned. A mistake here left undiscovered over a period of time, could lead to damages running into millions of currencies.
